Eva Mendes is a popular star that was born in Miami, Florida, but she was raised in Los Angeles with a Cuban-American heritage. During her college days, she started her acting career and study under Coach Ivana Chubbuck. After studying acting, she developed a desire to appear into film in the future. At first Eva was taking smaller roles in films and she was not yet known at the time until she played the role of Denzel Washington’s girlfriend in the movie Training Day in 2002. That is the start of her shining and exciting career as a movie star. After that, she was featured in a wide variety of roles from dramatic to comedy. These opportunities allowed her way to work with highly respected and regarded directors like Carl Franklin in Out of Time, Robert Rodriguez in Once Upon A Time in Mexico, John Singleton in 2 fast 2 Furious, Farrelly Bros. in Stuck on You, and Antoine Fuqua in Training Day her first breakthrough movie.

Mendez also co-starred in an independent film entitled The Wendell Baker Story in the year 2005 with popular stars Will Ferrell, Owen Wilson and Luke Wilson. Luke Wilson was also the director of the film, but before that her biggest movie was Hitched in 2005. This movie is a romantic comedy film that had her paying the opposite Will Smith. Along of her acting career, Eva was also employed by Revlon cosmetics as their international spokeswoman. She joined with so many elite actresses like Halle Berry, Julianne Moore and Cindy Crawford. These women have appeared in different Revlon commercial and print ads. She is also one of an active member and supporter of the Revlon’s fight against the dreaded disease breast cancer.

Eva’s desire in her life is to continuously further her acting ability and skills by working with a lot of popular filmmaker/directors like Spike Jonze and Pedro Almodóvar, and Steven Soderbergh and learn with these world renowned directors. Eva has a very intense feeling and passion for acting since she started in her college and until now. This is the reason why she keeps on accepting a lot films that will improve her craft in acting. Today, her latest movie was The Women in Los Angeles. This movie is all about of course women in Los Angeles and the relationship between them. Eva played the character Crystal Allen which is a hot lady that is having an affair with a popular businessman who is already married.

During one of her interviews Eva Mendes, talks about the time she spend in rehab earlier this year because of having a problem dealing with a famous person. Actually, she admits that she is having a hard time adapting herself. Being a star is not easy, because people’s eyes are always on you. This is the bad side of being a popular celebrity. I know that some people just aren’t “joiners”, but I am, and I am a HUGE extrovert, so a fun, lively gathering of interesting people calls to me. If you need a little jolt to spur you to action, here are some ideas…

There are networking meetings for business, there are singles gatherings, there are social groups to find new friends and then there are plenty of special interest groups like the Sierra Club, etc.

The other night, I attended my first meeting of a business networking group that I recently joined called Ladies Who Launch. More about the organization in a minute, but this gathering was held in a retail store. Not just any store, but the fabulous Three Dots, home of the famous delicious high end T Shirts and comfy, hip easy to wear clothing that feels like you’re in your pjs, on Melrose near Crescent Heights.

The founder of Three Dots, Sharon Lebon and her creative director Yuchin Mao were on hand to tell the fascinating tale of rags to riches (Yuchin recently came on board, previously designing for the likes of Helmut Lang and Prada). There were about 75 high-powered business-owners and would-be start-ups and a good time was had by all. Most inspiring to me was Sharon’s humble account of the last 10 years, growing the company from having $4000 in the bank to an expected gross next year of over $100,000,000. That’s ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS. Wow. She made it really clear that if SHE could do it, we could do it and each one of us went away with a feeling of true inspiration. There are many amazing stories in Los Angeles, it was extraordinary to get such an up-close and vulnerable peek into a superstar in the fashion industry’s business.

Ladies Who Launch, the group I mentioned, is for women only (sorry, gentlemen, there are plenty of places for you guys to gather!), particularly women who have the intention of launching a business or who are ready to jumpstart a business they already have. They offer a four week program called an incubator, where you declare your idea and get support, homework and a shot in the arm from the leader and the other participants. MANY women-owned business, as well as friendships, partnerships and affiliations have started from these impactful groups!

Here is how some Los Angeles neighborhoods are doing:

K-Fed’s bodyguards were sent to Britney’s home on January 3, 2008 to pick up the children for K-Fed’s turn to have the children. The bodyguards were to pick up the children at 7 PM. Britney refused to turn the children over to K-Fed’s people. Apparently the LAPD were called in after Spear’s was not abiding by the court mandated custody agreement. There were about 5- 8 LAPD officers, 2 ambulances, 1 police helicopter and the fire department

During the visit from the police, LAPD allegedly said Britney appeared to be under the influence. She was than transported to Cedar Sinai for a possible 72 hour hold. K-Fed’s and Britney’s 2 year son Sean Preston was also sent to the hospital. It is said that Sean Preston is home safe with his father now.

Well I tried to see if Britney’s people would keep any updates on her myspace profile. But nothing as of yet. So mainly any updates will have to come from news stories. So if you miss any and want an update do a simple search through your favorite media library and  get the latest

The Kodak is a 3,600 seat theater. The Kodak also is centrally located within a shopping mall and movie thearter. It also sits comfortably on top of L.A’s mass transit, the red line subway. One of the subways major stops is the Highland/Vine – Kodak Theater Stop. Prepping the theater is done about a week ahead of the broadcast. So many fans and tourists can watch as the set up begins. Including seeing the full size statueets of Oscars lined along the red carpet walkway of the theater. Yes viewing this Hollywood history is free prior to the broadcast. Or you can attempt to be a spectator on the night of the Oscars in hopes to catch a glimpse of your favorite actor and or actress via the street in front of the theater.

The Oscars have been broadcasted from the theater since 2002. Previously they were broadcasted from the Shrine Auditorium located across from the USC campus on Jefferson and Hoover in Los Angeles. The Oscars were originally at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood on May 1, 1929. The Roosevelt Hotel is one block west of the Kodak.

On January 22, 2008(same day the 2008 Oscars were annoucned) the 2005 Oscar nominated Best Actor, Heath Ledger died in his SoHo, New York apartment. Results of his death are unknown pending an autopsy. May are hearts go out to Heath Ledgers family.

Tickets run for $15.00. In which you may purchase online at the Downtown Comedy website. But I was able to purchase mine for a discounted price at Goldstar for roughly $5.00 plus a service fee of $3 or $4.00. The comedy shows are typically on Friday and Saturday nights and start roughly around 9:00 pm or so and runs approximately 2 hours. Age mininium is 18 and over.

The comedy club can be found in the Hotel Alexandria’s Charlie O’s bar (at Fifth and Spring streets). The decor of the club reminds me of something that Frank Sinatra would sing at. It had that kind of feel to me. A very nostalgia type of moment. In addition the comedy club is a smoke free environment as well.

And if you want to do something prior to the show. On Spring street is Gallery Row. There are small galleries one may view many up and coming artists. There are plenty of bistro’s and sidewalk cafe’s to visit.

The night I went, the headliner was Jason Stuart. There were five other acts that went on. In addition there was a house band by the name of Eden Tree. Before the show started one of the bartenders got up and asked two questions from the audience. If you got one of the questions right you would get a free alcoholic drink. They also have wonderful sliders(baby hamburgers with caramelized onions and mustard) and a great chicken nachos.

The experience overall is great. All the acts were great and the sounds that Eden Tree provided were worth the money. The ambience of the club gives one a feel of the Frank Sinatra 50’s club feel. So if you are ever looking for a great place at a inexpensive price to go to on the weekend in Los Angeles, I would recommend the Downtown Comedy Club.

Kourtney Kardashian purchased this house in the year 2006 for $829,000. Calabasas home has a nice infrastructure and is designed beautifully from inside as well as outside. The house is located on the stream side which imparts it a beautiful location. It is a three bedroom, three-bath house in which there are domed ceilings. The floors in the house are all made up of hardwood and all equipments are of stainless steel. For the safety purposes there is a chimney corner also. The worktops in the house are made with the granite. In Calabasas there is special management of the windows. Also an attractive bar of marble stone is there in the house. The third bedroom in the house has been recently completed and it is a kind of study room. There is also a private lawn in the house which is having a nice cascade in it; this makes the luxurious countryside around the house. The tennis center, Las Virgenes School and a nice shopping complex near this house make it just exceptional in terms of site. The house is well equipped.

All these above characteristics are present in Calabasas California. It is available for $795,000. For such a beautiful house the amount is absolutely sensible. The house is just impeccable throughout.
